17 million: New record of registered de-domains

[ad_1]

The central domain registration office Denic only passed the threshold of 15 million registered Germany domains in 2020, and now another record has been broken. This week the 17 millionth domain with the extension .de was registered. Statistically, every fifth inhabitant of the Federal Republic now has his own de-domain.

According to Denic, an average of more than 30,000 domains are registered with her every month. The fully qualified domain names are all unique, but other top-level domains or endings are also used in many cases. Finally, .net or .org are also available and in use alongside .de.

The number 17,000,000 at Denic belongs to a domain owner who specializes in the creation of individual gifts. In 2014 she turned her hobby into a profession and wants to set up a website as well as a small online shop and blog on her domain. So far, she has been showing her handicrafts on Instagram.

A few weeks ago Denic (German Network Information Center) stated that in a regional comparison the south of Germany has a stronger domain growth than the north. Most of the de domains are recorded in North Rhine-Westphalia – just over 3.3 million. Almost 1.5 million de-domains are registered for owners outside of Germany. Some of the foreign de-domain owners live in the United States (23 percent), the Netherlands (13 percent) or the Russian Federation (9 percent).
