Before and after the work-hard-play-harder Generation X came two sets of people who seem to be at constant war with each other. Baby Boomers and Millenials have their differences and are prepared to defend their colliding points of view by all means. At times, this generational conflict gets so emotional, it seems both are prepared to take it to the streets.
Baby Boomers (also known as Boomers) are typically considered to be born between the mid-1940s and mid-1960s. They are the result of the end of World War II, when birth rates spiked. The Boomers became healthier and wealthier than any generation before them. They are thought to be work-centric, extremely hardworking and motivated by position, perks, and prestige. Mentally focused and competitive, the generation grew up in turbulent times (consider the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis or the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.). Because of that, Boomers began to fight for social, economic and political changes. Idealistic and uncynical, this generation was able to buy a house and a car, and to go abroad not to fight a war, but to chill on a beach instead.
However, since the Baby Boomers sacrificed a great deal to get where they are, this generation believes that others – mainly, the Millennials – should pay more dues. Millennials (also known as Generation Y) are people born between roughly 1980 and 2000. They are thought to possess a great deal of confidence and tolerance, but also entitlement and narcissism. Refusing to comply, they blame the Baby Boomers for wrecking the economy and having zero understanding of the work-life balance, necessary in the workplace. To shed some light on the conflict, Bored Panda has decided to collect some of the most memorable comebacks the Millennials threw back ant the Baby Boomers. Some are lighthearted and funny, while others try to reason and inform. Scroll down to check out the entries and upvote your favorites!
