Achim Berg was re-elected as President of the Bitkom digital association for a further two years. Berg was unanimously confirmed for a third term of office by the main board in Berlin. In the next two years he will speak for the more than 2,100 Bitkom member companies with over two million employees in Germany. The members elected Sabine Bendiek, Executive Board member at SAP SE, as the new Vice President.
Ulrich Dietz, Chairman of the Administrative Board of GFT Technologies SE, and Dr. Dirk Wössner, CEO CompuGroup Medical SE, were confirmed as Vice-Presidents. Markus Haas, CEO of Telefónica Deutschland Holding AG and member of the Executive Committee of Telefónica SA, is moving up to Bitkom’s closest decision-making group as treasurer.

Advancing the digital sovereignty of Germany and Europe
“In their exploratory paper, the SPD, Greens and FDP have given digitization a unique and outstanding value. We have the chance to turn the 2020s into a real digital decade for Germany. It is particularly important to me that we come closer to two central goals: the digital sovereignty of Germany and Europe and the digital participation of all citizens, ”said Berg. “Digitization is not a problem that needs to be solved. It is the key to mastering the great challenges of our time – from achieving the climate goals to an effective fight against Corona to maintaining an internationally competitive, highly innovative economy. ”
As well as the President, Vice-President and Treasurer, the entire Presidium was elected. Six new members were appointed to the now 16-member committee: Dr. Wolfgang Hackenberg, Management Spokesman for Nokia Solutions and Networks GmbH & Co. KG, Michael Hagspihl, Senior Vice President Deutsche Telekom AG, Dr. Marianne Janik, Chairwoman of the Management Board Microsoft Deutschland GmbH, Katharina Jünger, CEO and Co-Founder TeleClinic GmbH, Christina Raab, Chairwoman of the Management Board Accenture GmbH, and Fabian Wesemann, Co-Founder and Group CFO wefox.
