Amazon.com: Battlefield V Deluxe Edition

I love BF, and have since BF 1943 but the series went the way of Hardline with this. That’s what if feels like only catering to more twitch shooter fans that another franchise has capitalized on. The game is more colorful but the game looks more like a knockoff BF than the authentic version…textures aren’t as detailed and the game has a cartoony/watercolory look to it (I’m on XB1X with a 4K TV).

Yes, the gunplay is smoother but again so was Hardline’s and it looks and plays more closely to Hardline than anything else in the franchise, if that’s your bag you may like it. I didn’t let myself get wrapped up by the negative talk from the “uneducated” haters that were offended or the SJWs. I bought the game…the deluxe version and I regret it. I don’t think I’ll play more than a few hours and then retire it, even with the additional content. Oh and the bugs, and I mean bugs, and complete oversights (more below) are so numerous it’s actually impressive and it would be funny if I didn’t spend day one cash on this steaming pile. This is reminiscent of the BF4 launch all over again.

TL;DR if you love twitch shooters and value that over the cinematic experiences that BF is known for, you’ll like it. If you’re a BF veteran or loved the former formula, you’re likely to be very disappointed.

ETA: I’ve given the game more time and played more gamemodes to see if I would change my mind. I did – it’s worse than what I previously thought and have changed my review from two stars to one. I’ve experienced so many bugs with this game it’s disgusting…the worst offending was when I shot my rifle it brought up the Xbox menu every. single. time. I’ve also experienced most of the other more common bugs people are complaining about. It’s a mess and should NEVER have been released in this state. I mean there are a TON of bugs I experienced on nearly every round…not to mention the little things that are just lazy (wearing the enemy’s uniform and your squad command stating “destroy the objective” when you really mean “protect the objective” because you’re on DEFENSE.

The gameplay is so much like CoD, I’m thinking of trying that again (switched to BF after I got tired of CoD and the last one I played was CoD4). If BF wants to be like CoD, I’ll just play the game that knows how to make the genre work. I wanted to love this game because I love this franchise despite potential echo chamber drama that you may find on forums. I’ve tried different weapons/classes, maps, gamemodes. I’ve consistently finished in the top third and in most matches and have had a MVP a few times. I’ve given it several days. I still can’t stand it. I sincerely hope EA/DICE doesn’t make this the new normal.

This game is as close to shovelware for a BF game than I can ever remember. Yes, BF4’s launch was abysmal but the game – even with the sever issues was fun at its core. This game feels like work to play. I only played more because I spent the money and it’s like paying for a terrible meal at a restaurant but feeling you need to eat it because you bought it. Not since Brink, have I regretted buying ANY game as much as I regret this one. Avoid at all costs.
