BoxWorks Digital: Annotations for mobile devices and deeper teams integration

At an event that was held digitally for the first time, Box.com presented new functions of its cloud content management system. Annotations are coming to mobile devices, Relay is getting individual templates and a new API. More applications can be controlled via teams.

Annotations is the name of the feedback function in Box, which will soon also be available for all mobile devices: Comments can be stored directly in files, Box informs employees via push message if necessary when they should process change requests. Comments or markings can also be made on the iPad using Apple Pencil. Apple Scribble automatically converts this into digital text.

Box Relay has been around since 2019 to automate processes. What is new is that from October onwards, users will be able to individually design templates. Box recently released a collection of ready-made templates. “In this way, best practices can be integrated, deployments simplified and teams standardized with regard to general processes”, it says in a press release on BoxWorks.

With a new API, customers can better integrate workflows or connect applications from “third-party providers such as Salesfore or ServiceNow” to Box. It will be made generally available from December.

Box and Microsoft Teams users should be able to work more productively through improved functions. Folders can be synchronized directly with a teams chat, access rights for box files can be assigned in teams and users in teams can be notified when there have been changes that are relevant to them. These innovations should also be available from October.

A newly designed app gallery has only been announced for the coming year. All external applications should be easier to find in one place. Box CEO Aaron Levie says: “The working world is completely different today than it was five months ago. More and more people work in the home office, have to work with teams around the clock, access and use confidential data on private devices more uses than ever before. ” Box wants to ensure that companies can “easily” use a single platform.
