CCC warns of security gaps in municipal systems
Forensics experts are still working at full speed when analyzing the cyber attack on the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district. Last week, malware infiltrated the systems and put them on hold. Digital traces are still being saved and clues about the perpetrators are being collected. However, it may still take some time until there are reliable findings. From the point of view of Manuel Atug from the Chaos Computer Club, there is no single cause for such a successful attack. Problems with ransomware and deficits in the systems did not arise overnight, says the IT security expert. This is a long, almost decades-long process. Many municipalities are working with old software and hardware that have not been updated for years.
Digitization should relieve nursing staff
The hard work of the nursing staff should be made easier by digitization. “The digitization in nursing should contribute to the fact that the nurses are relieved in their work through innovative digital approaches”, explained Christine Enenkel, head of the health insurance company DAK-Gesundheit in Saxony. This not only benefits the employees, but also those in need of care. The Saxon care facilities have so far been funded with 3.3 million euros in this area – most often with the purchase of tablets, routers or software for billing, care documentation and duty scheduling.
