Online Marketplace – Critical to Ecommerce Growth

Since 2014, global e-commerce has grown by 15 percent per year. This dynamic is largely driven by marketplaces, which are up 21 percent versus nine percent for traditional online stores. (Source: Digital Commerce 360). The same trend can be observed in Europe. This shows that consumers prefer online providers with a wide range of products.

Merchants who use Cdiscount’s marketplace solution also have access to the fulfillment service, which has been called Octopia Fulfillment since June 1st. This service supports retailers with logistics, the management of sales and stocks, shipping and much more. In addition, Cdiscount offers warehouse locations in Germany in cooperation with a German logistics partner. This keeps the shipping routes and costs for Eastern European countries as low as possible.

Cdiscount is a subsidiary of the Casino Group and one of the leading non-food e-commerce platforms in France. The provider has over 100 million products, ten million customers and over 23 million unique visitors per month. The Bordeaux-based company employs 2,000 people and in 2020 generated gross goods of more than four billion euros. The volume includes the marketplace with more than 13,000 partner dealers. (sg)
