On the coast, the North Sea lies well in front of the Baltic Sea: on the East Frisian islands there was an increase of 59 percent, in North Frisia even an increase of 64 percent. In contrast, the increase in the holiday regions on the Baltic Sea is moderate: there, the amount of data transferred rose by a maximum of 21 percent. The telephony volume rose in all regions by eight to eleven percent. The only exception is East Frisia with around ten percent less voice telephony.

For 2019 and 2020, Vodafone has considered a three-week period before the start of the summer holidays (May 30 to June 20) and an equally long period within the holiday season (July 18 to August 8). The Baltic Sea regions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (including Rügen, Usedom, Greifswald) and Schleswig-Holstein (Timmendorfer Strand, Scharbeutz, Fehmarn, Kiel, Eckernförde, Damp and Plön) were examined. For the North Sea coast, the East Frisian Islands and some areas of North Frisia (such as Sylt, St. Peter-Ording, Husum and Amrum) were included. Inland, the southern holiday regions Oberallgäu-Bodensee and Ostallgäu / Garmisch-Partenkirchen were analyzed.

At Vodafone Germany, mobile service revenue fell by 3 percent to 1.2 billion euros in the second calendar quarter, although the number of contract customers rose by 2.9 percent to 18.8 million. “The decline in roaming is depressing mobile service revenue”said a spokesman.
