Attention, spoilers! We present some elements from the first two hours of Cyberpunk 2077 in the text. If you don’t want to know anything about the game, you shouldn’t read on.
We sit in a small car and sweat. On the way from a small desert village to Night City we got into a security check with our car. This is a problem because we have a box with contents unknown to us in the trunk. It could be drugs or prohibited implants, but also harmless breakfast cereals or a teddy bear.
Wonderfully coherent
When playing Cyberpunk 2077 we find the banal security check interesting for another reason: It is wonderfully coherent and elaborately staged. We ourselves are at the wheel of the small car, which reminds us of the first Golf. Our muscle-bound buddy Jackie Wells is in the passenger seat.
We have just bumped the rattling crate over a desert road, now we are at the control that looks like a border station or a toll booth. After a short wait, the police tell us that it is our turn to drive on a huge scale.
Then we are scanned. Our protagonist and Jackie quietly discuss with pressed voices what is going on around us, then we should get out and speak to one of the officers.
To do this, we go into a small outbuilding, hand in our gun and enter conference room number two. To cut a long story short: We get out of the situation without a fight or other serious problems by handing the chip a chip with money. A little later – in safety – we also find out what is in the box.
This moment – just over half an hour after Cyberpunk 2077 started – is important for the rest of the adventure: At that moment we make something of a friendship with Jackie, who will become one of our best friends in the further course.
A friend in Cyberpunk 2077
The guy is a real sympathizer – he has a sense of humor and can swear wonderfully in Mexican in hot situations! By the way, we didn’t encounter the other computer-controlled companion Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves).
Not everyone will experience this start to the great adventure as we do: depending on the background we choose when creating main character V, there is a different beginning.
