Gaming graphics card: GeForce RTX 3060 will be released on February 25th

[ad_1]

At the consumer electronics fair CES 2021, Nvidia announced the GeForce RTX 3060 for the end of February 2021. A specific presentation date has now been set: on Thursday, February 25, 2021, the cheapest graphics card from the Ampere family is to appear.

Nvidia confirmed this to the US press, including the website Anandtech. The recommended retail price is 320 euros – 100 euros less than the theoretical cost of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti.

Usually Nvidia’s market launches take place at 3 p.m. German time. In the case of the GeForce RTX 3060, only manufacturer cards from Asus, EVGA, Gainward, Gigabyte, Inno3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY, Zotac and smaller manufacturers appear. Nvidia will not offer its own Founders Edition.

Interested parties should not count on large quotas for the price recommendation at the start of sales: At the moment, the graphics card market has been swept empty, which leads to highly overpriced prices – if a model is even available. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, for example, should actually cost 420 euros; However, dealers only list them for pre-orders from more than 600 euros.

The GeForce RTX 3060 comes with 3584 shader cores, a boost clock of 1780 MHz (without overclocking) and 12 GB of GDDR6 memory on 192 data lines. Compared to the Ti model, this reduces the raw performance by a good 20 percent (12.7 vs. 16.1 TFlops) and the memory transfer rate by an expected 25 percent. The GeForce RTX 3060 uses an additional 4 GB SDRAM for this.

The specifications make the previously cheapest ampere graphics card also interesting for miners who are increasingly mining crypto currencies such as Ethereum again due to the rising prices.
