Gaming PCs at Aldi: Desktop PC with GeForce RTX 3060 Ti for 1300 euros

The German discounter chains Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord are adding some desktop PCs and notebooks to their range on July 29, 2021, including two devices for playing games. The Erazer Beast X25 houses the fastest hardware you can get in a notebook: AMD’s eight-core Ryzen 9 5900HX processor with clock frequencies of up to 4.6 GHz and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080 mobile graphics chip with 16 GB of GDDR6 memory and a high energy budget of up to 165 watts.

There is also 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM in the form of two SO-DIMMs in dual-channel, a 2 TB PCI Express SSD with pre-installed Windows 10 Home and Wi-Fi 6 (WLAN 802.11ax). On the connection side, there is plenty of USB, including one USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 GBit / s) as a Type-C port with DisplayPort function, HDMI 2.1 and Ethernet. The 17.3 inch IPS display des Erazer Beast X25 displays only 1920 × 1080 pixels (Full HD), but shows 240 frames per second.

Cost: 2700 euros. There are currently no other notebooks with the Ryzen eight-core, GeForce RTX 3080 (in the 16 GB version) and 64 GB RAM. Gigabyte sells the Aorus 17X (from 3631.45 €) with the comparable Intel CPU Core i9-11980HK. If you are satisfied with 16 or 32 GB of RAM and smaller SSDs, you can get otherwise comparable notebooks from around 2200 euros.

The Desktop-PC Erazer Engineer P10 is especially interesting because of the built-in GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. Desktop graphics cards are still overpriced – a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti alone costs at least 700 euros. The Aldi PC for 1,300 euros therefore has a good price-performance ratio.

Manufacturer Medion pairs the GPU with Intel’s eight-core processor Core i7-11700F from the Rocket Lake-S series. Windows 10 Home is preinstalled on a 1 TB PCIe SSD. 16 GB of DDR4-2933 are available as working memory. The hardware sits in the in-win case 301. Modern connections such as USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 GBit / s) and Wi-Fi 6 are on board.

Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord will sell the Erazer Beast X25 notebook and the Erazer Engineer P10 desktop PC exclusively online from July 29, 2021.
