The first competitions for the 15th German Sustainability Award are currently starting. In the anniversary year, the German Sustainability Award honors actors from the economy in the categories of companies, design, start-ups, packaging and “local heroes”.
The German Sustainability Award is the national award for top performance in sustainability in business, municipalities and research. With eight competitions, over 1,200 applicants and 2,000 guests at the events, the prize is the largest of its kind in Europe. Sustainability-oriented companies of all sizes can apply in one or more categories until June 3, 2022. Awards are given for transformative business models (DNP company), sustainably designed products (DNP design), start-ups and start-up cooperations in the green economy (NEA 2.0), sustainable packaging solutions (special prize for packaging) and, for the first time, special regional commitment (“Local Heroes” ).
German Sustainability Award relies on transformation
“In 2022 we continued to develop all formats and created new ones. Especially in the anniversary year we want to show what has already been achieved, in which areas we need transformation more than ever – and what Germany’s pioneers of sustainability have to offer,” explains Stefan Schulze-Hausmann, Chairwoman of the German Sustainability Award Foundation
Applications are submitted via an online questionnaire and are first evaluated by experts from the assessment teams. The independent juries of the DNP will decide on the finalists and winners (sometimes supplemented by public voting) from September 2022. Nominees, finalists and winners will be included in the broad reporting of the DNP in cooperation with over 50 media partners. They are also given the opportunity to communicate their successes to the outside world via the DNP seal.
The German Sustainability Award is awarded by the German Sustainability Award Foundation in cooperation with the federal government, municipal umbrella organizations, business associations, civil society organizations and research institutions. The German Sustainability Award is presented at the German Sustainability Day in Düsseldorf. This is the most visited annual communication platform on sustainable development issues.
