[ad_1]

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), together with “Grant for the Web”, awards six-month grants of varying amounts to promote ideas for new revenue models on the Internet. According to the organizers, projects that relate to the open source protocol Interledger and the web monetization API of the W3C are particularly worthy of funding. In 2021, there will also be a special focus on diversity in the selection of funding recipients. If you want to receive a scholarship, you can apply until September 15th.

at Interledger is an open source protocol, which should enable a simple and as barrier-free as possible online money transfer. Behind it stands the Interledger Foundation (ILF), which develops and wants to promote the infrastructure for the protocol and related technologies. Grant for the Web is one of the foundation’s projects. Overall, the funding program is backed by a fund of 100 million US dollars, financed by the US company Coil. Mozilla and Creative Commons are also involved. Last year, own information was distributed according to project grants amounting to 8 million US dollars. The W3C has been cooperating with Grant for the Web since the beginning of the year.

Applications are possible in various forms. Among other things, plans for business models or the implementation of specific prototypes are accepted, as are outlined research projects.

A scholarship has already received Snake Nation this year, a social media platform with digital currency. Members receive on this platform as an incentive for their activities VNM-Token. An integrated wallet application that supports the Interledger Protocol supports, should also make it possible to carry out peer-to-peer payments, withdrawals, top-ups and contactless payments.
