Shopware launches new video-on-demand platform for e-commerce – eCommerce Magazin

With the launch of the video-on-demand platform Shopware TV, the company sees itself in a pioneering role for the industry. With the free streaming service, viewers will find videos that are entertaining in addition to business-relevant information. At the start, two lavishly produced series with up to five episodes each are available, with further formats to follow soon.

Video-on-demand platform starts with two series

“When people who don’t know us come across Shopware, they may see us as an e-commerce company only. You’re not wrong with that, of course, but this view doesn’t tell the whole story either, ”explains Sebastian Hamann, CEO of shopware AG, in the first scene of the new series“ New Kid in Town ”. His statement describes the philosophy of the software manufacturer and at the same time explains Shopware’s unusual decision to launch its own streaming platform.

“We always think outside the box and surprise our community with unusual campaigns. This certainly also includes Shopware 5 – the release that we advertised at the time with our own movie and an accompanying tour. And also Shopware TV ”, says Hamann. But Shopware TV is more than that. Because the service goes far beyond the specific products and takes a much broader, more comprehensive perspective on the subject of e-commerce.

Infotainment platform for e-commerce enthusiasts

Shopware TV is intended to serve as an infotainment platform for e-commerce enthusiasts and promote openness and cooperation among all market participants. “We place one focus on the consumer’s market view. Because the way people shop is changing just as much as the products they consume or the perception of a brand. Shopware TV should help to understand these processes and to benefit from the knowledge in the long term, ”says Hamann. Specifically, Shopware TV provides inspiration and insights into all areas of Shopware and far beyond in high-quality formats. The topics addressed are entrepreneurship, the success factors of retail companies, the effects of the corona pandemic on retail and much more.

In addition to the “New Kid in Town” series, which was created in collaboration with the film production company Brandnew Entertainment and director Sebastian Moretto, shopware AG is launching an informative and entertaining series for developers. This is called “{DEV} initely Shopware” and was implemented by our own video production team. Shopware newcomer Ben Marks also plays a role in the series. The American joined Shopware in the spring as Director Global Market Development, which also underscores the international orientation and support for the open source concept. Further series formats are already in the works and will be published successively.

Video-on-demand platform provides insights into Shopware

The project Shopware TV fits the philosophy that the company has consistently pursued for years. “We have always been of the opinion that we should focus on people and meet them authentically. We also do that with Shopware TV. We grant personal insights and are approachable. We offer our community and everyone interested in e-commerce formats that on the one hand provide expert knowledge and business advice, but on the other hand also represent varied, human experiences in a digital world, ”explains Hamann.

the shopware AG is the manufacturer of an e-commerce system and is used by brands, retailers and manufacturers in the B2C and B2B sectors. As an open source solution, Shopware gives users the freedom to develop growth potential – with more flexibility and less complexity. Shopware employs 250 people at its headquarters in Schöppingen in Westphalia. The provider relies on a global network of 1,200 sales, technology and solution partners. (sg)
