More than two thirds of the people surveyed for the Statista Global Consumer Survey in Germany play video games. Gaming is particularly widespread among 18 to 29 year olds, but the 50 to 64 age group also gamble. During the pandemic, the already thriving industry got an extra boost, like infographics from Statista and Technology Review shows.
While sales in Germany grew by around twelve percent in 2019, it was over 21 percent last year. The most important source of revenue is mobile gaming with a turnover of over one billion euros.
In second place are download games, which amount to 639 million euros. According to the forecast of the Statista analysts, the overall market is expected to grow to 3.1 billion euros.
And which games are particularly popular? Strategy games come first, followed by titles from the area of action (e.g. fighting games). Simulations are also very popular.
