In addition to new Surface hardware, Microsoft has introduced a new accessory: the Surface earbuds, The in-ear studs were clearly inspired by products such as Apple's Airpods (test) and other plugs. The two wireless individual earbuds fit into a designated case, which also charges them inductively. Through this process, a total of 24 hours of battery life should be possible. According to the manufacturer, carriers can listen to music for about eight hours with one charge.
The Surface Earbuds have two outward directional microphones that can be used to make calls, for example. Microsoft also speaks of integration with Office 365. Carriers record transcripts with their voice and save them in Word documents. In addition, the earplugs can be used in PowerPoint presentations as a remote control. The built-in touch sensor is used to control volume, forward, back, start, pause and stop.
Silicone caps in different sizes
The carrying case charges by means of USB type C connection. The cable is included in the package, but no power supply. The silicone covers can be changed. Three different sizes are included. The buds themselves are also tested with IPX4 and therefore splash-proof. In heavy rain, they could be damaged.
The Earbuds are compatible with Windows 10, Android 4.4+ and iOS 9+. They communicate via Bluetooth 4.1 and Bluetooth 4.2. The speaker drivers measure 13.6 mm in diameter and are designed for frequencies from 20 Hz to 20 kilohertz. The discs measure 25 mm in diameter and 19 mm in depth. You will notice them and their white-gray color.
Microsoft wants to sell its product in late 2019. The price is 250 US dollars.
