Taillight Telefónica: Mobile operators do not comply with the requirements for 4G supply

The companies have to remedy these gaps by the end of the year. So far, the penalties for providers who do not meet the requirements, with up to 100,000 euros, however, low. A planned amendment to the Telecommunications Act provides for more stringent penalties – from one million euros to two percent of global annual revenue.

The Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) called on the mobile operators in November 2019, by the end of the year, the gaps in the supply of highways and ICE routes "close completely",

Aiwanger presented the measurement results on the Bavarian ICE routes. "No mobile operator so far fully complies with the requirements of the Federal Network Agency"he explained. Measurements by BBM, commissioned by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, showed that Deutsche Telekom supplied 90 percent of the ICE routes, Vodafone 84 percent and Telefónica only 74 percent.
