Uplay +: Ubisoft launches PC games subscription for 15 euros a month

Following Electronic Arts and Microsoft, Ubisoft is the next major game publisher to offer its own subscription service. Uplay + launched on Tuesday on PC and currently contains over 100 PC games from Ubisoft Studios.

Uplay + costs 15 euros per month, As long as the subscription is active, users can download and install the games included in Uplay +. To verify the subscription, the service requires an online connection. For comparison: EAs Origin Access Premier also costs 15 euros per month or 100 euros per annum. Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass for the PC is much cheaper at 4 euros per month, but is still in the beta phase.

The game list of Uplay + includes, among others, the series Anno, Assassin's Creed, The Division and Watch Dogs. In most cases, these are the Deluxe or Ultimate editions with all published DLCs. Assassin's Creed Oddysey, Watch Dogs 2 and The Division 2 are among them. Anno 1800 is to be added, but caused technical problems at the start. The publisher will record Watch Dogs Legion for release in March 2020 in Uplay +.

Ubisoft grants subscribers access to upcoming beta phases and three-day early access on all upcoming Uplay + games.

Ubisoft offers the subscription free of charge until 30th September. The publisher promotes Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta from September 5 to 8, where subscribers can join. Interested parties, however, have to deposit a debit or credit card and explicitly cancel the subscription if they do not want to continue in October. Otherwise Ubisoft automatically renews the membership.

In the E3 announcement of June, Ubisoft announced an integration of Uplay + in Google's Stadia. Players no longer need to install titles on their PCs, but can render them to Google's cloud and then stream them to a device.

In the current announcement Ubisoft Stadia does not mention anymore. The publisher may re-focus on streaming as soon as the Google service goes live – expected in November.
